On the occasion of Rama Navami, director-writer Prasanth Varma made a promise to his fans about his next directorial venture, Jai Hanuman, the follow-up film to the blockbuster HanuMan . He vowed to create such a spectacle of a film that it would provide the global audience with a cinematic experience like never before.

"Wishing everyone a very Happy & Blessed #RamNavami! On this sacred occasion and with the divine blessings of Lord Rama, this is my promise to all the audience across the globe: to give you an experience like never before & a film to celebrate for a lifetime. This is going to be a special one for all of us," said Prasanth.

Prasanth struck gold with his previous movie, HanuMan. The film, inspired by Indian mythological stories and revolving around the legend of Lord Hanuman, was in production for more than two years. It opened in cinemas to packed houses across the country in January, coinciding with the Sankranti festival.

The success of HanuMan

HanuMan mainly featured a non-star cast led by Teja Sajja and Amritha Aiyer. It faced many obstacles leading up to its release, including limited screens due to competition from big-star movies like Mahesh Babu's Guntur Kaaram, Daggubati Venkatesh's Saindhav, and Nagarjuna's Naa Saami Ranga dominating the Telugu states.

The makers of HanuMan held a paid premiere on the eve of the film's release to generate buzz, and it paid off. The film received overwhelmingly positive reviews from critics and audiences, creating anticipation for its theatrical release. While other new Telugu films fell flat at the box office by the end of the opening weekend, HanuMan prevailed.

HanuMan emerged as one of the biggest hits of 2024, earning over Rs 300 crore from worldwide ticket sales. Prasanth is now in the process of scripting the sequel titled Jai Hanuman, expected to hit screens in 2025.
