According to a lawsuit filed this week in a Los Angeles court, Zion Williamson is accused of rape, the New York Post reported Friday, citing the document. According to the woman, who has been identified as Jane Doe, the New Orleans Pelicans player committed two instances of sexual assault against her in 2020. To date, Williamson has not addressed the claims.

The plaintiff alleges that she used to be the NBA player's girlfriend. She drew attention to a pattern of "abusive, controlling, and threatening behavior." According to the report, Williamson has also been accused of threatening to have his security guards shoot Doe in the head and have her parents murdered.

On Friday, Doe's lawyer, Sam Taylor of the Lanier Law Firm, informed the Post that "Our client is extremely insistent about this—it is neither her wish nor our wish to litigate this case in the press."

"The allegations are proof that this is a very serious matter. Our client is excited about her court date, where she can tell a jury about what happened to her, the sacrifices she made for the accused, and how she can obtain justice.

Zion Williamson has received some terrible news, while the Pelicans have yet to react to the allegations. The NBA team is said to be prepared to release any member of the team after a terrible previous season. Joe Dumars, the new head of basketball operations, has been quoted as saying that nobody is "untouchable."

In 214 games (all starts) with the Pelicans, Williamson, who was the first overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft from Duke, has career averages of 24.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 4.3 assists. He has also made two All-Star appearances. Whether or not New Orleans wants to seek a trade for the forward is still up for debate.

According to a release from Zion Williamson's lawyers, "We take these charges with the utmost seriousness, and we unequivocally reject them. The assertions made in the complaint are utterly false and irresponsible."
