Lucknow: After a depressing season for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), skipper Rishabh Pant is a happy man after scoring a beautiful undefeated century against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Tuesday.

Pant's second IPL century, which was also his first of the season, was a major morale booster for Team India's vice-captain ahead of the Test series in England, which begins on June 20, even though it wasn't enough to bring LSG home as RCB captain JItesh Sharma unleashed a stunning onslaught.

Pant's joy at the end of the game was clear in his remarks, since he has had a terrible season with the bat and has also failed to guide LSG to the top four.

"Simply want to disconnect for a few days, not think about cricket, and then the England series is approaching, and I'm only getting ready for it in a positive frame of mind," stated the 27-year-old.

Pant got off to a good start against RCB, hitting Yash Dayal for two fours and a six. With the aid of eleven fours and eight sixes, he finished that 18-run over flawlessly, ending with 118* off 61 balls. The audience at the packed Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium went wild when he scored his century.

In 13 games prior to facing RCB, Pant had only managed 151 runs, averaging 13.73 runs per game with a strike rate of 107.09. He ultimately finished the season with 268 runs at an average of 24.45, which no one could have predicted.

LSG, who placed seventh overall, as they had at the conclusion of their previous season, may have had their fortunes turned around by a few of these innings earlier in the season, according to many. Actually, at the beginning of the season, LSG suffered injuries to its pacers.
