In his team's 5-wicket victory over Australia in the World Test Championship final at Lord's Cricket Ground, Aiden Markram scored an amazing 136, leveraging all of his skill and expertise to establish himself as a national hero in South Africa. Markram deserved his man-of-the-match title, contributing to his team's victory in the 282-run chase, which was the second-highest ever at this location.

Markram's 147-run alliance with captain Temba Bavuma, who scored 66 runs himself, was instrumental in South Africa's victory. Bavuma hobbled for singles and showed obvious signs of physical discomfort, yet he persisted with a strained hamstring for the majority of his innings.

Markram praised his captain for his determination and for leading by example when he was questioned about wanting Bavuma to continue batting despite his injury. “In all honesty, a lot of it came from him. He’s always led from the front for us, been incredible for us,” Markram remarked in his post-match interview. “Specifically in this campaign, these last two-three years." He was obviously in pain, but he would never leave the field. Finding a way to score important runs, forming a partnership to get us closer, and hitting those kinds of innings are things that many individuals eventually remember.

"You only have so many balls..."

Markram remarked, "We came into the second innings with quite a few concerns," as he continued to consider the tactic he used during his 207-ball innings, in which he kept up a high strike rate. required a tad bit of luck here and there, as well as some time in the middle to discover some runs. With their five-wicket victory, South Africa has the chance to rejoice in their first title victory in more than 25 years, before focus shifts to the beginning of their WTC title defense in Pakistan later this year.
