Dileesh Pothan was cast in Ela Veezha Poonchira by Shahi Kabir

Ela Veezha Poonchira, which Shahi Kabir created in 2022, also won him the Kerala State Film Award for Debut Director. The movie, which features Soubin Shahir, tells the story of police officers assigned to a hillside duty. In a recent interview with Baradwaj Rangan for Galatta Plus, Shahi Kabir stated that he did, in fact, want to cast Dileesh Pothan, a well-known filmmaker, in the part, but he was hesitant to approach him because it was his first movie.

"We thought about Pothan. However, I wasn't sure how to approach him and narrate the tale while filming my first movie. We gave up on our initial choice as a result. Shahi Kabir, who also wrote the script for the recently popular film Officer on Duty, stated, "No... what if this goes wrong?" We had that kind of doubt.

Her scheme for Poonchira

The story follows police constable Madhu, who is assigned to work at the mountaintop with fellow officer Sudhi. The twist starts when a woman's body parts are discovered dispersed throughout their neighborhood. The movie's shocking climax is one of its most notable features.

Sudhi Koppa is seen in another important role, while Soubin Shahir plays police constable Madhu.

Ronth release

In the meanwhile, Ronth, directed by Shahi Kabir, is scheduled to be released on June 13, 2025. Dileesh Pothan and Roshan Mathew are known for their work as nighttime patrol officers. Earlier, Shahi Kabir, who had written successful films like Joseph and Nayattu, had said that Ronth is more autobiographical, whereas his other works are more commercial. The cast of this movie also includes Baby Nandhootty, Arun Cherukavil, Lakshmi Menon, Nandanunni, Krisha Kurup, and Sudhi Koppa.
