The release of Aamir Khan's next movie, Sitaare Zameen Par, is just around the corner. The movie, which is a remake of the Spanish film Champions, was directed by R.S. Prasanna and produced by Aamir. As he believes that releasing a film on a digital platform only eight weeks after its theatrical premiere is an unfair proposition, Aamir stated a few weeks ago that Sitaare Zameen Par would only be released in theaters. The actor stated that Amitabh Bachchan advised him to follow his gut regarding the movie's theatrical-only release.
Aamir Khan on Amitabh Bachchan's backing of his choice to release only in theaters

India Today questioned Aamir Khan on how the sector responded to his choice to release Sitaare Zameen Par exclusively in theaters during a group interview. Amitabh Bachchan, he said, urged him to take risks and stand up for his convictions.
“Everyone was advising us to do it the traditional way, but I was firm on releasing it only in theaters,” Aamir stated. I'm not sure what overcame me that evening when I first met Mr. Bachchan, but I confided in him about my worries. I told him that friends and well-wishers all believed I was making the wrong decision. However, he responded with, "Why aren't you doing it? You've always taken risks. You're a risk-taker."
Big B's remarks, according to the Dangal performer, lifted him up and encouraged him to stay true to his convictions.
"I want people to go to theaters," Aamir Khan says.
The actor-producer also stated that he has no issue with any OTT platform, but that he does not think the schedule is fair. A six-month break would have been fine, but Khan said he would never want his movie to be made available online so soon after its theatrical debut.
"Although I did get offers, I rejected them since I want people to see my movie in theaters." The performer stated, "I believe in cinema, and I believe in my audience."
