Ram Charan is quietly finishing the filming of his upcoming movie Peddi, which is being produced on a large scale by Buchi Babu Sana, known for his success with Uppena. The action drama is scheduled to debut on a record number of screens on March 17, 2026.

The film's post-release commercial activity has surged since the release announcement teaser was revealed. According to what OTTplay has learned, Netflix has acquired the film's digital rights. The producers, however, selected Netflix as their film's digital partner despite two big OTT platforms competing for the rights.

The special aspect is that the digital rights to the film have been sold for a whopping Rs 105 crore, which is a record for any Telugu film to date. This shows the kind of craze the film has in the market. The news is also that Netflix had a say in the release date of the film, and taking its lineup in the coming months into consideration, the makers locked the release date.

Of late, top OTT platforms are ruling the roost when it comes to fixing the release dates of Telugu films. The same happened with several films in the last two months in Telugu cinema. 

On the other hand, Buchi Babu Sana impressed one and all with Uppena, which also won him a National Award, and the way he has showcased Ram Charan in Peddi has taken the hype to another level.

A new schedule of the film will go on floors by the end of this month, as per the latest update. Janhvi Kapoor plays the female lead in this film, and she has yet to join the sets. Kannada star Shivaraj Kumar will be seen in a special role, and he has already shot for his character. 

Ram Charan will be seen in a rugged role in Peddi, which is touted to be a period drama. A.R. Rahman is composing music for a Telugu film after a long gap, and he has already wrapped up four songs for the film.
