Some of the classic films starring Mohanlal and Mammootty, two of the industry's biggest stars, have been re-released in Malayalam cinema. Most of them have had a decent theatrical run as well. In the meantime, there are rumours that more movies will return to theatres, much to the excitement of film enthusiasts. 

List of Malayalam films that might re-release soon

Among the movies that are expected to be released in theaters again this year are Malayalam's well-known multi-starrer, Twenty Twenty, Mohanlal's Ravanaprabhu, and Kunchacko Boban's romantic comedy drama, Priyam.

Twenty Twenty is the first film that comes to mind for Malayalis when they hear the term "multi-starrer." The ensemble cast of the movie includes Mammootty and Mohanlal, the film's biggest stars, as well as almost all of the best performers in Malayalam film. The movie was a commercial smash, with excellent acting and a captivating plot throughout.

Priyam and Twenty Twenty are available on OTTplay Premium and Sun NXT, while Ravanaprabhu can be found on Amazon Prime Video. Mohanlal's Thenmavin Kombath is also anticipated to be released in theaters once more this year.

Malayalam re-releases in the first half of 2025

This year saw the re-release of Mohanlal's famous action movie Chotta Mumbai. During the movie's successful run in theaters, viewers cheered its greatest moments on the big screen. Nevertheless, a large number of people couldn't help but express their enthusiasm for the humorous, action-packed show. Still others were overjoyed to be able to relive their 18-year-old FDFS moments. According to sources, the film earned more than Rs 45 lakh at the box office during its second week of re-release.

Commissioner, a Suresh Gopi-starring investigative thriller, will soon be back in theaters. The film would be re-released in theaters during Onam 2025, according to reports. Following their most recent initiatives, Chotta Mumbai and Devadoothan, Hy Studioz is said to be working on a 4K restoration of the film, according to reports. A Suresh Gopi film is being re-released for the first time ever.
