Kannappa is Vishnu Manchu's new film that has caught the attention of many, thanks to star cameos from the likes of Mohanlal, Prabhas, and Akshay Kumar. The fantasy drama made Rs 50 crore in its first weekend, and everyone was eager to see how the film would fare on its first Monday.

Well, the numbers are out, and one can say that the film has passed the Monday test fairly well, as Kannappa made Rs 3.5 crore on its first Monday. These are decent numbers considering Vishnu Manchu's market.

Although many predicted that Kannappa would fail during the weekdays, the fact that the occupancy in the Telugu states was over 50% indicates that the picture performed quite well. Prabhas's star power is contributing significantly to the movie's success because his followers are showing up in droves to see it.

Mukesh Kumar Singh has helmed Kannappa, making sure the film is told in an interesting way, especially in the second half. Kannappa's other South Indian language versions have not brought in a lot of money, and occupancy in the US has declined.

Preity Mukundam finds new fame in Tollywood

Kannappa is Vishnu Manchu's dream project and has been on his mind for over a decade. His father, Mohan Babu, also played a key role in the film, which features Preity Mukundan as the female lead. The film's success has given her a new lease on life, and she is now receiving solid offers in Telugu cinema.

Kannappa is yet to lock its OTT platform, as the makers are expecting big bucks from digital deals. Vishnu clearly revealed in an interview that the film will not be available on OTT until 10 weeks after its release. In the days to come, some big Telugu films are set to release, and it remains to be seen how Kannappa will fare from here on.
