Vertical just dropped the official trailer for Guns Up, a gritty yet funny action-comedy. The film stars Kevin James in a role you’ve never seen before—a cop torn between right and wrong, turned a mob enforcer. Edward Drake, who wrote and directed Cosmic Sin and American Siege, is behind the project. The movie hits theaters on July 18, 2025.

The story centers on Ray Hayes, played by James. He’s a small-town cop getting tired of earning honest paychecks. So, he crosses the line and starts working for organized crime. Ray and his wife Audrey, played by Christina Ricci, secretly save money from their illegal work. Their goal? To open a family-run diner someday.

After five years of working undercover, things get complicated. A new mob boss, Lonny, played by Luis Guzmán, takes control of the local gang. He doesn’t trust Ray. When a job goes wrong, Ray finds himself on the outs with the gang he used to work for. Now, he and Audrey must fight to protect their kids and stay alive from the mafia they once served.

Guns Up mixes action, dark humor, and family drama all in one. The trailer shows intense shootouts, car chases, and moments of tenderness between James and Ricci. As they handle the chaos of their secret life falling apart, their chemistry stands out. The cast also includes Francis Cronin, Kelly Landry, and Rob Gough.
