Do you want to incorporate yoga into your schedule but are unsure whether to practice it at dawn or later in the day? Yoga isn't a one-size-fits-all practice, even if the typical picture often portrays it as a sunrise ceremony. In reality, the optimal time for practice varies according to individual demands, way of life, and schedules.

According to your schedule, Himalayan Siddhaa Akshar, a yoga specialist and the creator of Akshar Yoga Kendraa, told HT Lifestyle whether morning or evening yoga is preferable. The yoga instructor also offered a schedule that included asanas designed for the time of day, in addition to that:

This is the guide he posted:

Yoga in the morning

  1. Ideal for fostering a healthy routine, instilling discipline, and revitalizing the body and mind.
  2. It helps prevent illness and keeps one in sync with the natural biological rhythm.
  3. A typical morning routine should incorporate activities that energize you, cleanse and strengthen your body, and stimulate your mind.
  4. Those who get up early, have free time in the morning, or can start working later are ideal candidates for morning yoga. This is also for people who prefer a set schedule.

Top Asanas:

1. Kapalabhati Shuddhi Kriya:

  1. Ideal for purging the energetic channels and invigorating the intellect.
  2. Begin in sukhasana, calm the breath, and maintain a straight spine.
  3. Begin by exhaling forcefully while drawing in your stomach and abdomen; the rest of your body should be at ease.
  4. Continue with active exhales and passive inhales for 50 to 60 strokes.

2. Surya Namaskkar:

  • Activates the fire element, which is the source of energy and happiness, and energizes the Sun energy in the body.
  • To stimulate the nervous system, enhance metabolism, and keep a healthy digestive system, practice five sets of Surya-namaskars every day.

Yoga in the Evening

  • for individuals who had a very exhausting and stressful day at the office, or who have late work hours or a lot of morning rush.
  • The mind and body may really benefit from some yogic stretching and relaxation.
  • An evening yoga session should ideally be gentle on the body and soothing to the mind.

Top Asanas:

1. Restorative Asanas:

  • An excellent evening exercise, restorative asanas help release the tension that the body stores in its muscles and joints.
  • Some effective positions for this include Balasana, Makarasana, Marjhari Asana, Baddhakonasana, and Aanandasna.

2. Saral Brahmari:

  • Aids in calming the mind, promoting better sleep, relaxing the nervous system, relieving stress, and lowering anxiety.
  • Sit or lie down with your spine straight in a comfy position. Maintain a relaxed body and closed eyes.
  • Take a deep breath in, then make the humming sound while you exhale, concentrating on the vibrations.
