Millions of individuals throughout the world rely on milk as a common beverage because it provides vital macro and micronutrients. Furthermore, milk is often the first and last thing consumed in desi households.

Milk is known to trigger stomach problems or other allergies in some individuals, which causes them to seek out alternatives to conventional cow or buffalo milk. Currently, a lot of people are choosing alternative milk choices such as goat milk, cashew milk, and coconut milk. However, do they provide a healthy way to prevent bloating?

The amount of bloating that various milks cause is used by gastroenterologists to rate them.

The various types of milk were graded by Dr. Saurabh Sethi, a gastroenterologist with training from AIIMS, Harvard, and Stanford, in an Instagram post he made on July 7 according to how likely they are to induce bloating. "On a scale of 1 to 10, where 10 indicates the highest chance of causing bloating and gastrointestinal discomfort, a doctor trained at Harvard and Stanford ranks different types of milk, such cow milk, oat milk, soy milk, and more. After your morning chai, coffee, or cereal, do you frequently experience bloating? Perhaps the milk, rather than the food, is to blame.

The rating given by Dr. Sethi is shown below:

8 out of 10 for goat milk (10 being the worst)

6 out of 10 for soy milk

Milk made from oats: five out of ten

Cow's milk without lactose: 4 out of 10

Rice milk: seven out of ten

One in ten people like cashew milk.

3 out of 10 for coconut milk

Almond milk: 2 out of 10

9 out of 10 for cow's milk without any sweetness

Cow's milk with added sugar: 10 out of 10

The best method for preventing bloating

In a recent Instagram video with the title "No 1 bloating tip from a doctor," another gastroenterologist, Dr. Salhab, shared his tricks for reducing bloating. He proposes the following:

1. Use kiwi or papaya to break up trapped gas.

2. Take a stroll to get rid of the gas.

3. Use simethicone (an anti-foaming agent used to relieve bloating, pain, or discomfort caused by too much gas) to break up the gas.

4. Try peppermint tea to alleviate gas pain.

5. Use activated charcoal to bind the gas.

6. Use bismuth (a chemical element) to counteract the stench.
