To help women manage PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) and PCOD (polycystic ovarian disease), Rajat, a yoga instructor who regularly shares various yoga postures that may be practiced at home to address specific health problems, posted a video on Instagram on April 22 in which he discussed seven yoga asanas.

Daily yoga positions for (PCOS) and (PCOD).

Rajat demonstrated seven yoga positions in the video that individuals with PCOS/PCOD should practice, along with instructions on how to perform them. The time one should spend on each asana was also mentioned, along with the idea that one should practice the postures for twenty minutes. The following yoga positions were mentioned by the yoga instructor:

1. Butterfly pose: 2-3 minutes

2. Forward bend in Baddhakonasana: Hold both sides for 30 seconds

3. Ardhamatsyendrasana: Hold both sides for 30 seconds

4. Malasana: Sit for 1 minute

5. Chakkichala Asana: 10 repetitions on both sides

6. Bhujangasana: Hold for 30 seconds, 3 sets

7. Setu Bandhasana: 10 repetitions

PCOD, according to PACE hospitals, is a disorder in which the ovaries create a large number of eggs that are either immature or only partially mature. This occurs as a result of stress, hormonal imbalance, obesity, and a bad lifestyle. PCOS is a metabolic condition, and in its more extreme forms, it can cause anovulation, which occurs when the ovaries stop producing eggs.

Yoga for PCOS and PCOD

The National Institutes of Health claims that yoga, along with medication, has demonstrated efficacy in treating and managing the symptoms of polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS).

"Yoga promotes weight loss while controlling the consequences of PCOS-related weight gain. This reestablishes hormonal balance by stimulating metabolism and blood flow to the brain. Yoga also increases the chances of conception and fertility," according to Himalayan Siddhaa Akshar.
