The international pageant took place in Hyderabad this year, and on Saturday, Miss Thailand Opal Suchata Chuangsri was named Miss World. The Thai competitor defeated 107 other national champions from throughout the globe. Ethiopia's Hasset Dereje Admassu came in second place overall in the competition. Krystyna Pyszková, the winner from the previous year, presented Chuangsri with her crown. 

Stephanie del Valle, the 72nd Miss World beauty contest's host, was accompanied by Indian host Sachiin Kumbhar. The competition was also held in India last year.

When India's Nandini Gupta left the competition after reaching the final 20, the hometown crowd's hopes were dashed early on. In 2017, Manushi Chhillar became the most recent Indian to take home the title of Miss World. Priyanka Chopra, Yukta Mookhey, Diana Hayden, Aishwarya Rai, and Reita Faria are the five additional Indians who have earned the prestigious title.

The shimmering attire of Miss Thailand

For the competition's costume round, Chuangsri sported a custom-made traditional outfit. Opal wore a dress that represented both healing and power. The exquisite white material was decorated with opal-like floral designs.

"The glistening white material and exquisite opal-like flowers represent women who choose hope over fear," Opal posted on her Instagram account, adding, "The soft flare mirrors the ripple effect of compassion--how one heart can awaken many. The inner light that leads us through the gloom is reflected by Swarovski crystals.

The gown, which she said was a tribute to the amazing voyage of "Opal For HER," symbolizing the gem's inherent traits of beauty, strength, and metamorphosis, was described by her.

About the Miss World 2025 competition

Earlier this month in Hyderabad, the 72nd Miss World competition began, making it a historic occasion for both India and the pageant.

The 71st iteration of the competition was held in Mumbai last year, and Krystyna Pyszkova of the Czech Republic won the title of Miss World.
