In a recent interview, Sabrina Carpenter addressed the criticism she has received for her daring performances and album cover designs. The Espresso vocalist claimed that the criticism frequently originates from the very material that her followers enthusiastically consume.

"Those are the songs you've popularized."

In her Rolling Stone interview, the vocalist discusses her experiences as a female artist in the public eye dealing with media scrutiny. The cover photo of Sabrina's newest album, Man's Best Friend, has generated debate. She is shown in a dog-like position next to someone pulling her by the hair in the painting. As a result, some detractors have charged her with catering to the male perspective.

Sabrina, on the other hand, stood by her decisions, pointing out the irony that the same viewers who are criticizing her are contributing to the spread of her sexually explicit material.

"When folks gripe, it never fails to amuse me." They're like, "She just sings about this." However, you've popularized those songs. You obviously like having sex. You can't get enough of it. "It's in my show," Sabrina told the publication.

The Short n' Sweet singer stressed that her performances, which include risqué moments during songs like "Juno" and "Bed Chem," are fan favorites that have gained popularity because of public interest in sexual themes.

Sabrina claims that female artists are subjected to greater scrutiny.

"Even though there are far more moments than the Juno positions, those are the ones you discuss and share online every evening. I have no say in that. You'll hear the ballads and the more reflective songs if you attend the performance, she continued.

The pop singer also noted that female performers are subjected to greater observation nowadays, especially when it comes to expressing their sexuality. Despite their contributions, women continue to face cultural opposition, she said, citing industry veterans like Rihanna and Christina Aguilera.

The new album by Sabrina Carpenter

Following the success of her 2024 album Short n' Sweet, Sabrina is scheduled to release her seventh studio album, Man's Best Friend, on August 29. Manchild, the album's lead single, debuted on June 5. The song is a disco-synth-infused, country-inspired pop tune.
