Roy Kapur Films (RKF), led by veteran producer Siddharth Roy Kapur, has teamed up with Pratilipi, India’s biggest platform for digital storytelling. Their goal is to turn popular Indian stories into movies and shows for both local and international viewers. The first project is Charitraheen, a courtroom drama with over 21 million reads and a 4.88 out of 5 rating on Pratilipi. The announcement was shared on social media, where RKF said, “We’re happy to join hands with @TeamPratilipi. First up: Charitraheen — a gripping story that’s touched millions of readers. Many voices. One goal: to share India’s most exciting stories.”
This partnership plans to develop at least six projects, both movies and series, in the next three years. They will combine Pratilipi’s large collection of stories with RKF’s experience in storytelling and production. Pratilipi has over 30 million active users each month and offers content in 12 Indian languages. It holds stories from new and experienced writers from all over India.
RKF has made many popular films like The Sky Is Pink, Dangal, and Yeh Ballet. It is known for producing heartfelt stories that can make a big cultural impact. The first project, Charitraheen, is a powerful courtroom story about gender, justice, and social bias. It already has a lot of attention on Pratilipi, with hundreds of thousands of comments and active discussions. Now, it will reach more viewers as it moves to the screen.
Siddharth Roy Kapur shared his excitement, saying, “We look for stories that reveal India’s many sides and hopes. Pratilipi’s platform gives us a chance to help new voices reach audiences worldwide.” Ranjeet Pratap Singh, CEO of Pratilipi, added, “We want to give these stories a bigger stage. This partnership is about turning stories into movies and shows. Charitraheen is just the start.”
This project shows a bigger trend: the spread of storytelling. By combining platforms like Pratilipi with traditional film makers like RKF, India’s entertainment scene is opening up to new voices and local stories. It shows how stories from India’s small towns and rural areas can find a global audience, with the right support and ideas.
