Director Debbie Rao on her inspiration behind characters

Ahead of the release of DDD, the director of the show spoke to OTTplay exclusively, where she spoke about her inspiration behind her characters, how all the teenagers were on sets, and more.

When asked about her inspiration for the characters, she said, "For me inspiration-wise, it has always been able to draw from the real experiences, real people, make sure the characters look like real people, make sure they all come across as full-bodied human beings rather than a character that’s been 2D cut out or written on a paper. For example, if you see Farzaan’s character, he will know what happened in his life, it was the same for most of the characters and we gave them the back story. Hopefully, that’s why it is relatable and real."

Further revealing her experience working with a bunch of teenagers, Debbie said, "They are all very suljha hua. They were all very eager and hungry to do things. Their work ethic is so strong. They are so eager to do a good job with their characters and to take feedback. They have got a great passion for doing something."
