In his new documentary, Billy Joel: And So, Billy Joel discussed his several suicide attempts. It debuted on Wednesday. According to People, the 76-year-old disclosed that he attempted suicide when he became depressed after having an affair with Elizabeth Weber, the wife of his buddy Jon Small.

Following his affair with his friend's wife, Billy Joel opens up about his several suicide attempts.
Joel remembered falling “in love” with Weber when he was in his twenties while residing in her and Small's house. In the documentary, she stated that she and Bill spent a lot of time together and that their relationship developed gradually. “I’m in love with your wife,” the Piano Man hitmaker said as the music producer got doubtful.
"I was really, really guilty about it. They had a kid. I felt like a homewrecker," Joel said in the movie, which made its debut at the Tribeca Festival in New York City. "I just loved a girl and I got hit in the nose, which I deserved. Jon was really angry. I was really angry," he continued. The affair brought an end to their friendship as well as to their band, Attila.
Joel started drinking as a result of this, and he eventually started "sleeping in laundromats" since he had nowhere else to live. "I was just in a lot of pain," he continued, "It was sort of like why hang out, tomorrow is going to be just like today is and today sucks." As a result, I decided to put an end to everything.
Joel "took them all" when his sister gave him sleeping pills. In the documentary, a visibly moved Judy Molinari said, "He was in a coma for days and days and days. I went to see him in the hospital, and he was lying there white as a sheet." I believed I had murdered him.
The "lemon Pledge" drink was used by the Uptown Girl singer in another suicide attempt. Despite his feud with Joel, Small brought him to the hospital. “Jon saved my life, even if our friendship was collapsing,” the composer said when reflecting on the event.
"The only logical explanation I can offer for why Billy took it so hard is that he loved me so much and that it killed him to harm me so much, since he never really told me anything. “Eventually I forgave him,” Small said of Joel. Weber and the Honesty crooner reunited years later, and they were famously wed from 1973 to 1982.
