Despite being unveiled in April 2025, the statue has just lately gained popularity online due to its strange facial features. Wearing the Pakistan jersey from the 1999 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup, the statue depicts the legendary left-arm pacer in his signature bowling stance.

During his stint representing Pakistan from 1984 to 2003, Akram amassed an amazing 414 Test wickets and 502 ODI wickets. He redefined fast bowling with his deadly swing and unmatched ability, and he is still one of the most renowned pacers to ever come out of Pakistan.

Following Pakistan's elimination from the group stage of the 2003 ODI World Cup, the left-arm pacer declared his retirement from international cricket.

Akram went into coaching and mentoring after leaving international cricket, where he continued to impart his extensive expertise and understanding of the sport, especially in the area of fast bowling. He has coached a number of teams and formats at the franchise and national levels.

In the previous month, Akram pushed for Younis Khan to be the captain of Pakistan's Test team.

According to Akram, Younis has the potential to enhance the national team's performance in the longest format.

"In my opinion, Younis is a great option. All of my decision would depend on his availability and the plans of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Akram said at the event.

Before Younis resigned just six months after signing a two-year contract in 2021, he worked as the national team's hitting coach, but he also had a disagreement with Hasan Ali, a fast bowler, and some board members.
