Virat Kohli Skips India vs England 3rd Test at Lord’s, Prioritizes Fatherhood
4 months ago | 5 Views
The third test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy between India and England is being played at the legendary Lord's stadium in London, where the cricket elite are present. On Thursday, Lord's is full of famous people, including Sachin Tendulkar, Rishi Sunak, and Brett Lee. However, the one person who is sorely missed at the location is Virat Kohli. About two months prior, the former India captain declared his retirement from Test cricket. He is now in London, but it appears that he will not be participating in the third Test. Less than 48 hours prior to this, Kohli was in London for a unique charity event hosted by his former teammate Yuvraj Singh called 'YouWeCan', which followed a Wimbledon match in which Novak Djokovic participated. But it is thought that this was Kohli's last trip, at least for now.
Well, Dinesh Karthik has some bad news for those who anticipated Kohli to come and at least one of the five days of the Lord's Test. When Michael Atherton asked Karthik if there was a possibility that Kohli would come, Karthik responded negatively. "He's close to Lord's. He resides there, but don't assume it. He must take care of his paternal responsibilities.
The famous Lord's Cricket Ground is located on the same street as Kohli's home on St. John's Wood in London. However, if his Test retirement at age 36 or his confession that he has to dye his beard every four weeks is any indication, he is happy to stay out of cricket for the moment. Naturally, Kohli is anticipated to be back on the field for India's next ODI match, which might happen as soon as August if the BCCI approves Sri Lanka Cricket's proposal for a limited-overs tour. However, Kohli will only make sporadic appearances until then, having quit T20Is after the previous T20 World Cup.
Virat Kohli prefers to keep his distance
According to a story published in The Telegraph before the Test series began, Kohli leads a calm and understated existence in London. Kohli has stayed away from the World Test Championship final between South Africa and Australia, and he is not in the mood to watch either of the two London Tests – Lord's or the fifth match at The Oval. Additionally, Kohli has been invited to play for the Middlesex County team, but the icon has not yet expressed any interest. He is raising a young family. A one-year-old son, Akaay, and a four-year-old girl, Vamika. By Karthik's comments, it is evident that Kohli is placing his family ahead of cricket at the age of 36.
Following the Indian team's visit, Kohli remained incredibly silent until last week, when he eventually spoke out following India's resounding victory at Edgbaston. Kohli's shout-out to captain Shubman Gill and the entire squad was a welcome change of pace. Since the contentious victory march in Bengaluru, Kohli made his public debut at the Center Court, but don't anticipate too many more of them until he rejoins the ODI team on the road.
