On Thursday, the 'Home of Cricket' saw an historic moment as Sachin Tendulkar, one of the game's most famous characters, formally rang the five-minute bell at Lord's to mark the beginning of Day 1 of the third Test match between England and India. It was amazing that this was a first for a guy who has accomplished almost every possible cricketing accomplishment, and it only served to deepen his lasting influence in the game.

Although the ceremony itself has grown to be a tradition since it began, including former greats, officials, and legends from all over the sporting community, Tendulkar's turn at the bell represented a unique convergence. As part of the series named after him, the Indian maestro rang the ball for a Test. Before the current iteration of the series between India and England, it was given the name Anderson-Tendulkar trophy.

Earlier, Tendulkar was given a private ceremony inside the Lord's museum where he unveiled his own portrait alongside former MCC President, Mark Nicholas, adding to the celebration. The Master Blaster's legacy in cricket's spiritual home is now firmly established as the portrait joins the ranks of the greatest at the renowned location. For someone whose batting skill had an lasting impact on the game for more than 20 years, it was a fitting homage.

In both Test and ODI games, Tendulkar holds the record for the most runs scored as well as the most games played. He also holds the records for the most Test hundreds (51) and the most international centuries (100).

India aims to take the lead in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy

The stage for another potential classic in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy was set as Tendulkar achieved two esteemed awards in one morning. Both England and India have everything to play for, with the series tied at 1-1. The addition of Jasprit Bumrah and Jofra Archer to what is expected to be a heated match only serves to increase its intrigue.

For the third time in a row in this series, England captain Ben Stokes won the toss, but this time he chose to bat. The sole change to the Indian XI team that defeated Edgbaston by a score of 336 runs was Bumrah taking Prasidh Krishna's spot. On the other hand, Archer took Josh Tongue's place.
