The IPL 2025 playoffs are about to start, but the four participating clubs will need to address a few issues before they can step onto the field and begin their quest to win the IPL championship in Ahmedabad on June 3. The tournament's suspension and obligatory eight-day postponement imply that the playoffs will now conflict with the start of the season for several international teams, with the World Test Championship final between Australia and South Africa being a major impediment. With Ngidi serving as a backup and Bethell being more of a potential future, they won't be too concerned about the losses. If they continue to miss Tim David, they will have more firepower at the top thanks to Tim Seifert, and more arms in the pen thanks to Zimbabwean Muzarabani.

Titans of Gujarat

Losses: Kagiso Rabada, Jos Buttler

Replacements: Kusal Mendis

The squad that is undoubtedly most affected by the players they lose. Although Kagiso Rabada hasn't been at his best, Jos Buttler has been a key member of their elite top three, which has helped them win game after game. Without Buttler, their hitting starts to seem significantly weaker. Losing a player who almost averages 60 and strikes at 165 will do that to any team. Although Kusal Mendis is an equivalent substitute for a top-order wicketkeeper, he has big boots to fill.

Indians in Mumbai

Missing: Corbin Bosch, Will Jacks, Ryan Rickelton

Replaces: Richard Gleeson, Charith Asalanka, Jonny Bairstow

For MI, three out and three in. Their greatest loss will be Rickelton, who has improved as a batter throughout the tournament and given them excellent starts, but has also been outstanding with the gloves behind the stumps. Jonny Bairstow has had some excellent IPL performances, but he is a little out of the loop when it comes to replacing him. Gleeson is still a bench option for Trent Boult, while Sri Lankan captain Asalanka may be more of an insurance batter for a strong batting lineup that can move about.
