Pakistan Player’s Awkward Handshake Stunt at Junior Davis Cup

A new debate has broken out online, three days after India's resounding 2-0 triumph over Pakistan in the Junior Davis Cup U16 match in Shymkent, Kazakhstan. The topic this time is an unsportsmanlike act that was caught on camera during the post-match handshakes.
In a hard fought Group B match on May 24, the Indian team, captained by Prakash Sarran and Tavish Pahwa, had defeated Pakistan. In the super tie-break, both players maintained their composure and won their individual singles rubbers, giving India a complete victory over their arch-rivals. The score, though, was not the conclusion of the play.
Three days after the incident, a video on social media showed a Pakistani player shaking hands with an Indian opponent in a way that was clearly disrespectful. The video shows the Pakistani junior at first failing to make contact before doing it again and forcefully shaking off the Indian player's hand, a move that many online users called intentional and provocative.

In sharp contrast, the Indian youngster remained composed and walked away without answering, earning acclaim for his composure and maturity.
The event took place against the backdrop of rising tensions between India and Pakistan, even though political considerations are seldom given consideration in junior tennis courts. After the terrorist assault on Pahalgam on April 22, in which the majority of the 26 victims were visitors, bilateral relations between the two countries worsened.
In retaliation for the strike, India conducted aerial attacks on seven terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistani-occupied Kashmir on May 7, focusing on sites connected to Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen.
According to India, the attacks targeted only terrorist infrastructure and were "measured, focused, and non-escalatory." In retaliation, Pakistan carried out drone strikes on Indian towns and close around Indian military installations near the border. The tit-for-tat exchanges lasted for three days, at which point, according to reports, both parties reached a mutual ceasefire on May 10.
The handshake incident has not been the subject of an official remark from either tennis federation.
