Currently, Kevin Durant is among the most in-demand players in the industry. With stories indicating mutual interest, the Phoenix Suns forward has already been associated to a possible transfer to the San Antonio Spurs. The most recent events, though, indicate that the New York Knicks are becoming the frontrunners in a significant deal. However, how reliable are the reports?

The Knicks' journey to the Eastern Conference Finals has given them cause to be optimistic about a comeback, which may persuade the two-time NBA Finals MVP to accept the deal. Additionally, some believe that firing head coach Tom Thibodeau could be a move in the right direction toward the Durant deal.

But Ian Begley, a trustworthy source, candidly acknowledged the possibility of a big move in a report published by Athlon Sports. He stated that he doesn't want the fans to get too enthusiastic about the notion, suggesting that it may not be true.

"My intel all along has been, it's very unlikely to happen," Begley said. "So, if I'm guessing today, I would guess that that does not come to fruition."

On ESPN New York, Begley said, "Did they check in at the deadline? I'm not disputing that report." I think that, for a number of reasons, it would be quite unexpected for him to wind up in New York at the end of the day, given that he has something to bring to the finish line.

Therefore, I wouldn't trust any news about Durant and the Knicks right now, as a Knicks lover who is curious about their future—whether they will trade for Giannis [Antetokounmpo] or KD.

For them to be extremely aggressive and attempt to reach the finish line on a Durant agreement, in my opinion, would require a significant shift in their behavior.

The Knicks have historically liked going after the big catch, but this time, the Durant deal is unlikely to succeed.
