LeBron James seemed like a proud father on Sunday after his son, Bronny, scored an epic throwdown in the Los Angeles Lakers vs Miami Heat Summer League Game. The NBA's all-time leading scorer was not physically present at the Chase Center in San Francisco but was tracking his son's highlight-reel dunk.

James uploaded a couple of Instagram stories to celebrate his son's epic steal and slam moment.

On Sunday, Bronny, a second-year guard and the 55th pick in the 2024 NBA Draft executed a notable dunk. The play was described as a ‘throwdown’.

"Didn't know he had that kind of elevation, surprised," one fan said on X, the site formerly known as Twitter.

"He shouldn't have been on the same squad as his father." In some way, it stifles him," said one.

A third admirer tweeted, "I know he has bron's genes and I've seen him lift off before, but that was unexpected as hell."

What Bronny thinks about rumors linking LeBron to the Lakers

The speculation regarding his father's future with the Lakers elicited a response from Bronny earlier this week.

"I have no idea what you're talking about," Bronny stated with a smile on Wednesday following practice with the Lakers' NBA Summer League squad.

"I don't care about any of that." There are many things happening that I ignore.

In contrast, LeBron James chose to accept his $52.6 million player option with the Lakers for his historic 23rd NBA season, but his longtime agent, Rich Paul, made the announcement with cryptic statements in which he said that LeBron wants to contend for a title this year, even as the Lakers are planning for the future around Luka Doncic.

Last season, LeBron and Bronny made history by being the first father and son to play together in the NBA, but the 20-year-old son of the highest scorer in NBA history says he is unsure of what the future holds.

"We don't really discuss it that often, but I think that when such things do come up, he just tells me not to worry about it, not even pay attention to it," Bronny stated. "Just focus on what you're doing right now, and that's what will make me feel better and help me stay on track." It's a good thing, in my opinion, that he advises me to ignore that material.
