In the IPL 2025 final on Tuesday, several RCB players, including Virat Kohli and Krunal Pandya, erupted in jubilation when PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer's wicket fell. As the Punjab captain, affectionately known as "sarpanch," was out for one run in two deliveries, his team was left with a score of 79/3 in their pursuit of a 191-run goal at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium.

Romario Shepherd was brought in by Rajat Patidar, the captain of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, for the tenth over. Iyer attempted to cut his length ball outside off stump, but the Guyanese all-rounder was able to get a thin outside edge off of him. Iyer exited after Jitesh Sharma, the wicketkeeper, made a nice catch.

When Shreyas Iyer was out, Kohli and Krunal Pandya leaped for joy. The latter even seemed to bring his hands together. The Punjab captain was coming off an undefeated 87-run performance against the Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2, so the RCB wicket was huge.

Pandya quickly removed the threat posed by Josh Inglis by dismissing him for a 23-ball 39. The spinner compelled Inglis to make a mistake by throwing a floated delivery close to his body. When Liam Livingstone caught a ball at long-on, PBKS was brought down to 98/4.

RCB established a challenging 191-run target for Punjab Kings in the first innings. Bengaluru scored 190/9 thanks to Virat Kohli's (43 off 35 balls) and Jitesh Sharma's (24 off 10 balls) knocks. Kyle Jamieson (3/48) and Arshdeep Singh (3/40) led PBKS's bowling attack.
