Harleen Deol Faces Harsh Criticism on Live TV After Poor Show vs England

One of the most incredible catches on the boundary during a T20I against England at the Rose Bowl in Southampton in July 2021 was made by Harleen Deol, who sparked a frenzy on social media. Harleen Deol returned to Southampton in another July four years later, at the top of the list of popular cricket material. However, this time it wasn't because of how well she played on the field. Harleen Deol, a player for the India women's team, received criticism from all sides for her lack of game awareness in the opening ODI against England. Her wicket ended up costing her money.
On social media, Harleen was not spared, and the commentators on the broadcast gave her no break. In his review of the India batter's "sloppy" and remarkably bad cricket, former England batsman Mark Butcher did not hold back.
After the umpire ascended upstairs, Butcher remarked, "She should be in comfortably," but he was shocked to see replays show Harleen being run out for failing to ground her feet or bat.
"It doesn't get any worse than that. Extremely terrible cricket, in fact. It's hard for Harleen Deol to believe it, but she's the only one to blame. That's amazing. She didn't get her feet in or ground her bat. If she had taken either of those actions, she would have been a meter behind the crease. On live commentary, Butcher said, "England can't believe their luck."
The incident happened in the 22nd over of India's 259-run pursuit. Alice Davidson-Richards was standing at mid-on when Harleen hit a Charlie Dean delivery toward there and raced for a single. In contrast to Harleen, Alice was acutely aware of the circumstances. She rushed at the ball, grabbed it up fast, and gave the stumps a bash to knock it down.
It seemed like Harleen had no trouble establishing her position at first. The on-field umpire, however, sensed something and chose to transmit it to the TV umpire, even if the English fielders were not particularly thrilled.
Replays, though, told a very different tale. When the ball struck the stumps, Harleen's feet were still in the air and she did not ground her bat. She was run out for 27 runs off 44 balls.
Fortunately for Harleen, India's loss of her wicket was not too detrimental to the country. They secured a four-wicket victory, giving them a 1-0 advantage in the three-game series. Sophia Dunkley's 83 and Davidson Richards' 53 helped England score 258/6 after being put in to bat. Kranti Goud (2/55) and Sneh Rana (2/31) were India's best bowlers.
In answer, Deepti Sharma led India to victory with 10 balls remaining, thanks to an undefeated 62, Jemimah Rodrigues (48), and Amanjot Kaur (20*).
