Chargers’ Game Plan Shifts After Najee Harris Eye Injury

July 17, India It was recently disclosed that Najee Harris, the Chargers' running back, suffered an eye injury as a result of a fireworks incident on the Fourth of July, which could have had disastrous consequences for the team's rushing attack this year. In a discussion with ESPN on Thursday, July 10, his agent Doug Hendrickson revealed that what was first just conjecture from fans was indeed the case.

According to Hendrickson's chat with ESPN on Thursday, Najee Harris sustained a "superficial" eye injury from a fireworks mishap in Antioch, California, on July 4. As ESPN reported, Harris was one of the fortunate ones because a "mishap resulted to injuries to several attendees," one of whom has now been hospitalized as a result of losing all his fingers in the accident.

Prior to this, in March, Harris had agreed to a one-year contract with the Chargers; he had previously spent his first four seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Despite Harris's agent describing it as a "superficial" injury, NFL insider Ian Rapoport stated in a conversation on the NFL Network that it is much more severe than initially thought.

"I believe that he is not anticipated to miss much time," Ian Rapoport stated. "Now, there was a fireworks incident. There does seem to be some harm. Doug Hendrickson, his agent, used the term 'superficial'. However, as far as I can tell, he will be on the field sooner rather than later and is not anticipated to miss any games.

"To be sure, a few of Najee Harris's inner circle weren't as lucky in what sounded like an incredibly frightening, frightening scenario. Harris' injuries are considered to be rather mild, especially when compared to the others. "He should be back on the field soon," he said.

Given that Harris is predicted to have a slow start to training camp, his injury will not cause him to miss any games. This suggests that until Harris is fully back in the game, the chargers may be forced to depend heavily on first-round rookie Omarion Hampton.
