With Chris Richards scoring for the USMNT in the first four minutes, the 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup final between the United States and Mexico at Houston's NRG Stadium on Sunday got off to a strong start. Prize Money Information

The victor of the 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup, be it the United States or Mexico, will be awarded $1 million, which will be given for discretionary distribution directly to the winning federation (US Soccer Federation or Mexican Football Federation).

Second Place: The runner-up team will receive $500,000.

With $200,000 for third place, $150,000 for fourth place, and a $200,000 participation reward for each of the 16 clubs, the entire prize pool is worth over $5 million.

The Gold Cup trophy, a cup in the classical style with a plaque bearing the year and winning country, is also awarded to the victor.

Diego Luna scored both goals for the US as it defeated Guatemala 2-1, while Mexico defeated Honduras 1-0. The USMNT is aiming for its eighth championship, while Mexico is hoping to break its own record and win its tenth.

"We kind of like to fight," Chris Richards said in advance of the final, "so I think that's something that maybe has been missing from the national team over the last few camps, few months, few years. We didn't enter camp with the intention of fighting, but I believe that if teams want to start a fight with us, they have something else coming their way. We all want to win, of course, but in CONCACAF, things are sometimes ugly, so you have to do the dirty work."
