Gautam Gambhir is still unsure of how to handle Jasprit Bumrah's workload during the forthcoming trip to England, admitting that the top pacer will not be included in every Test match. Gambhir acknowledged that the particular Tests Bumrah will participate in are yet to be determined, but he did suggest that he will probably play three games. India's head selector, Ajit Agarkar, made the news during the squad announcement for the England tour that Jasprit Bumrah, 31, will not be able to play in all five Tests, according to input from the medical staff.
Gambhir, the head coach, stated that they would make a decision about Bumrah's involvement in games based on how the series develops.
"We haven't taken that call, which three games is he going to play," Gambhir stated at the pre-departure press conference in Mumbai. "We are going to have a conversation with him and depending on the series as well. The outcome of the series will have a significant impact on its direction. And that's something I'm sure he's well aware of too, which is crucial," he continued.
After playing all five Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 Tests, Bumrah suffered a back injury and was later left off of the Champions Trophy roster because he was unable to fully heal in time. The team management and selectors would like to avoid a similar occurrence in the future.
In Bumrah's absence, Gautam Gambhir is certain that the remainder of his bowling team will rise to the occasion, as they did during the Champions Trophy.
As I previously stated throughout the Champions Trophy [where India won, and Bumrah was absent], it will allow someone to raise his hand, and we have plenty of talent there. Even though he is good, we already have plenty of other talent in the team, Gambhir remarked.

'We have a fantastic group of bowlers who are capable of doing the task,' Gill stated.
Gill concurred with similar sentiments, highlighting that India's pace attack has enough depth and quality to not only make up for Bumrah's absence but also to win Test matches from any situation.
"I think we have selected enough bowlers and we have enough pace battery, and a lot of fast bowlers are in a great place to be able to win us Test matches from any situation or any position," Gill stated. "Obviously, when you have someone like Jasprit Bumrah, depending on how many matches he would play, whenever he would come back and play the match for us, it would be a great sight for us." However, I believe we have a fantastic combination of bowlers as well as a fantastic group of bowlers who are capable of completing the task for the team, he continued.
