Brian Rolapp was named chief executive officer (CEO) of the PGA Tour on Tuesday. According to a news release, Commissioner Jay Monahan will transfer his daily duties this summer, and the top NFL executive is poised to assume the position.

Who is Brian Rolapp?

After more than 20 years with the National Football League (NFL), Rolapp has been recruited by the PGA Tour. He overhauled the live sports experience while working for the league, and he was lately employed as its Chief Business and Media Officer.

Rolapp eventually rose to the position of CEO of NFL Network and COO of NFL Media after joining the NFL in 2003. He was responsible for managing the league's commercial operations, including its broadcast and digital rights, in his role as Chief Media and Business Officer. The NFL extended its digital footprint under his direction by launching NFL+.

Rolapp will next join the PGA Tour Enterprises, the golf circuit's for-profit arm, as CEO alongside the PGA Tour.

Rolapp emphasized his respect for golf's history and rich traditions in an open letter released Tuesday, according to CNBC. He went on to say that the sport still has amazing chances and a long way to go. He referred to himself as a "PGA Tour fan."

Rolapp called the Tour the "highest level of competition, integrity, and global opportunity" and stated he was "honoured" to join it "at such a pivotal time."

He continued by saying he couldn't wait to collaborate with players, partners, and management to create "lasting value and deliver an even more dynamic future for the sport and our fans."
