June 14, India Despite losing both the offensive and defensive play-callers who have been pivotal to their recent success, NFL great Barry Sanders thinks the Detroit Lions are still capable of making it to the Super Bowl.

In an interview with Newsweek about his upcoming documentary "The Making of a Heart Attack," Sanders discussed his emotions for the Lions, the team with whom he developed his Hall of Fame career.

Barry Sanders stated that although the squad will undoubtedly miss Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn, the core of the group is capable of leading them across the finish line.

"They contributed significantly to our success. We know what those two are composed of, you know. I believe we were able to capture the essence and the key components here. It is mostly here. Although Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn will be missed, we believe that the players we have on both offense and defense—such as Hutchinson returning and youngsters like Brian Branch—are adequate. Alim McNeill is one of many, as you are aware. "Jared Goff, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jahmyr Gibbs, David Montgomery, Laporta," said Barry Sanders.

The legendary running back dubbed the current crop of Detroit Lions players a "solid group" and expressed hope that they would be able to replicate the team's recent successes.

I mean, they make a nice bunch. Therefore, if we can maintain our health, we should observe results similar to those of the previous few years, he added.

In a forthcoming interview, NFL great Barry Sanders will discuss his health battles in order to motivate others once again as he returns to work.

During Father's Day weekend last June, the 56-year-old Sanders revealed a heart-related "health scare" to the public. He expressed everything about the fright, saying to CBS Sports that he thought it was "heartburn" and couldn't believe it.

"The Making of a Heart Attack," a documentary starring Barry Sanders, will debut on A&E on Saturday, June 14, at 1 PM.
