Even though Team India didn't make it to the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 final, they will still make around the same amount of money as the winners of the previous two competitions, New Zealand (2021) and Australia (2025). The ICC's choice to boost the WTC purse to $3.6 million made this feasible. After placing third in the WTC standings for the 2023–25 cycle, India, the runner-up in the previous two iterations, failed to make it to Lord's for a hat-trick WTC final appearance. After placing first and second in the points standings, South Africa and Australia made it to the championship game, which will take place at Lord's on June 11. The first opportunity to attempt to defend the WTC championship will belong to Australia. Two years prior, at the same location, they had defeated India in the championship match to capture the inaugural WTC championship.
The WTC Final, which will pit Australia against South Africa, will have a prize of $3.6 million for the victor, which is more than twice as much as what New Zealand (2021) and Australia (2023) won after winning the two previous finals.
The losing finalists will also be guaranteed more than $2.1 million this year, which is more than the previous top prize. The winners of the previous two editions (New Zealand and Australia) earned $1.6 million apiece, while the losing finalists (India) took home $800,000.
The ICC stated that "the increase in prize money demonstrates the ICC's efforts to prioritize Test cricket as it seeks to build on the momentum of the first three cycles of the nine-team competition."
For placing third this time, India will receive $1,440,000, or about ₹12.32 crores. With 69.44 percentage points, South Africa concluded the third edition on a high note with a 2-0 home series victory against Sri Lanka and Pakistan. After topping the rankings for most of the time, India came in second with 50.00 points, while defending champions Australia came in second with 67.54. India's prospects of making it to their third straight WTC final were hurt by a 3-1 loss in Australia and a 0-3 loss against New Zealand at home.
Here is the World Test Championship (WTC) final prize money distribution according to the standings:

1st Place – Australia or South Africa
The winner of the WTC Final will receive three million six hundred thousand US dollars.
2nd Place – Australia or South Africa
The runners-up will be awarded two million one hundred sixty thousand US dollars.
