Few even pushed BCCI to fire Kartik from commentary, while the majority criticized him for his word selection.

Shreyas Iyer epic takes PBKS to final

The Punjab captain led the Punjab Kings to a five-wicket victory against the Mumbai Indians in Ahmedabad, wreaking havoc with his undefeated score of 87. The victory then allowed PBKS to arrange the IPL 2025 final match against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, guaranteeing that the league will have a new champion on June 3.

Iyer will be leading Kolkata Knight Riders for the second straight year in 2024 after guiding the team to victory in their first title bout since 2014.

Iyer distinguished out in the massive 2024 chase with his commanding knock of only 41 balls, which included eight sixes and five boundaries, as Punjab completed the match with an over remaining. The June 3 match between the two teams that placed at the top of the league will be the fourth meeting between them this year. In Chandigarh, RCB has won two of the previous three games, both of which occurred consecutively. The last one was on Thursday, when Punjab lost the first Qualifier by eight wickets.
