Dhyan Sreenivasan plays the main character in Detective Ujjwalan, a Malayalam movie from 2025 that recently debuted on Netflix via OTT. With the Tovino Thomas-led Minnal Murali, Detective Ujjwalan, and Jambi, Weekend Blockbusters is laying the groundwork for the first Malayalam Cinematic Universe in the movie. The creators then teased the coming of Jambi, which is said to be Malayalam's first foray into the zombie realm, as Detective Ujjwalan finished his story.

The title role of Detective Ujjwalan, directed by the directing team of Indraneel Gopeekrishnan and Rahul G, who also wrote the screenplay, was played by the Malayalam actor Dhyan Sreenivasan. We see a brief glimpse of Jambi in the post-credits sequence after an energetic dance performance by the boogeyman and Detective Ujjwalan.

As a cloud passes over the moon, the temple oracle known as Velichappadu is revealed, and the Velichappadu itself changes. We also see the shadow of a writhing person behind Velichappadu, who assumes a fiery form, grabs his traditional sword, and departs. With the title Jambi, the series concludes, and the producers pledge that the movie will be released in 2026. This glimpse was, however, earlier disclosed by the producers as the Jambi first-look teaser.

Pearle Maaney, a digital influencer and actress, along with Srinish, are both in this film, which is directed by George Kora. It's worth noting that Detective Ujjwalan uses these actors in little cameo roles as well. December 2024 marked the formal announcement of Jambi.

Vala is another Malayalam film in the zombie genre. It is directed by Arun Chandu, who rose to prominence for his Malayalam science fiction mockumentary picture, Gaganachari. Following the team's revelation that the movie would signify the return of Jagathy, widely regarded as one of the greatest comedy performers in Malayalam cinema, Val gained a lot of popularity. Vala will also include Gokul Suresh, Aju Varghese, and Anarkali Marikar, who are all members of the Gaganachari group of performers.

In contrast, both Minnal Murali and Detective Ujjwalan are now available for streaming on Netflix. Basil Joseph directed the 2021 superhero picture, which stars Tovino Thomas.
