The movie is currently accessible on Netflix for streaming in a variety of languages following a month in theaters.

The theatrical and OTT release of Thug Life was originally scheduled to occur eight weeks apart, according to Kamal Haasan. Furthermore, the film had been outlawed in Karnataka as a result of the actor's remarks on the local language and refusal to issue an apology. After several weeks, the Karnataka distributor ultimately declined to distribute the movie. This was now a double blow for the creators of Thug Life, who not only experienced financial losses because the film wasn't released in Karnataka, but also had dismal box office success throughout the rest of the country. As expected, Netflix reduced the gap and released the film in a month.

Thug Life also stars Simbu, Trisha, Ashok Selvan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Nasser, Joju George, and others. It revolves around an aged gangster whose adopted son turns against him after a personal vendetta. With score by AR Rahman, and Ravi K Chandran cranking the camera, Thug Life is produced by Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan jointly.

Despite high expectations on the film, audience felt dejected upon watching the film, which had lacked a clear screenplay and impactful characterisations. The stat-studded ensemble was also of no new, as some felt the characters that deserved more arc were cut short in screen time.
