In one of the year's top-earning Malayalam films, Mohanlal's Thudarum, Benz sets out on a path of revenge after George sir murders his stepson, resulting in a revenge story. On May 30, 2025, JioHotstar released Thudarum, Tharun Moorthy's third film as a director following Saudi Vellakka. We examine what occurred in the thrilling conclusion of Thudarum, which explored themes of honor killing and the quest for justice, as the enthusiastic OTT audience consumes the film. And if Thudarum concluded with the possibility of a sequel following Benz's arrest for George Sir's murder. (If you haven't seen the movie yet, there are spoilers ahead.)
plot that begins
Everyone, including his wife Lalitha (Shobana) and children Pavi (Thomas Mathew) and daughter Pavithra, refers to Shanmugham as Benz in the film Thudarum. When the police seize his car for no fault of his, the cheery cab driver's joyful life is turned upside down, and from then on, Thudarum transforms into a thriller with surprises and twists at almost every turn.

Thudarum ending explained
When George Sir (a magnificent Prakash Varma in his acting debut) arrives, Thudarum's colors shift. At first, he warms up to Benz, but over time, it becomes clear that George sir murdered Pavi because he was in love with his daughter Mary. The police had put the corpse in the trunk of Benz's ambassador vehicle in a stunning turn of events. However, they attempt to turn the tables on Pavi when they learn that he is actually Benz's stepson by telling the media that Benz murdered Pavi because he misbehaved with his own daughter.
But once Benz, a former movie stuntman, discovers that Pavi was the victim concealed in his vehicle, he pursues the authorities. Despite being taken into custody, Benz manages to escape from the police station in a thrilling scene that includes the now-famous 'leap'.

The final scenes show how George sir tortured Pavi for daring to romance his daughter. But as George sir goes after his family, Benz reminds the senior cop that he, too, has a daughter. The climax portions play out at George sir’s house, as Benz brutally thrashes him before killing him. As Benz seeks revenge, George Sir’s daughter Mary is seen looking out from the window.

In contrast to another Mohanlal-starring film, Drishyam, Benz is arrested by the police and brought away while his family and Mary watch. The end credits roll across the screen, implying the possibility of a sequel. However, Thudarum's director, Tharun Moorthy, told OTTplay in no uncertain terms that the group has no intentions of making a sequel at this time.
Although as they say, never say never. Therefore, let us hold out hope for a sequel to Thudarum with a happier conclusion and see whether it actually materializes. Recent speculation that there would be a second episode was sparked by Tharun's photo of Mohanlal in Thudarum, which included the hashtag #tobecontinued (the English version of the film title).
