The best Darling Krishna films to watch on OTT

Darling Krishna may have 1 or 2 films yet to release from the long list of romantic dramas he had signed up immediately after the success of Love Mocktail. After taking up Kousalya Supraja Rama, Krishna had not refrained from doing anymore films in that genre, as audiences have, for a while, been saying that the actor was getting rather repetitive in his work, feedback that he took seriously and was looking to change.

Months later, the actor announced that he’d finally taken up a new project called Halagali, about a hunter tribe that fought the British centuries ago. For the film, the actor needed to get in shape – a leaner and sinewy frame - and had been on a diet and workout regime. When he played for the Karnataka Bulldozers at the Celebrity Cricket League this year, his physical transformation was quite palpable.

But while he has not begun shooting for this film, as of today, Krishna has a new project to focus on – his first pan-India movie. Krishna is the leading man of Father, a film backed by R Chandru’s RC Studios in which he is working with Prakash Raj, Amrutha Iyengar and Telugu actor Sunil, among others.

Madarangi

Krishna’s first film as leading man, got him the moniker Darling Krishna. The action-based romantic drama followed the rich girl falls in love with poor boy routine plot, which takes a turn when he is named as a suspect in the murder of an MLA’s brother. The film directed by Mallikarjun Muthalageri, also stars Naksha Shetty, Sushma Raj, Sharath Lohithashwa, Avinash, Sadhu Kokila, among others.

Love Mocktail & Love Mocktail 2

In his own words, Love Mocktail is a film that Krishna wrote, produced and directed to give his career the boost it desperately needed. Krishna wrote a simple love story about his character Aditya, and the three women in his life – a school crush, the college love and his soul mate. The film did well in theatres, with the real-life couple’s chemistry the highlight of the film. Although the film had a tragic ending, two years later, Krishna wrote a follow up to explore how Aditya was dealing with the big loss he suffered.

Kousalya Supraja Rama

Director Shashank big marketing pitch about Kousalya Supraja Rama was that it was about the harm that male chauvinism can inflict on women. A noble attempt, albeit told from a man’s perspective, so, he didn’t exactly nail it, but the fact that it was explored deserves applause. Krishna was yet again paired with Milana Nagaraj in the film.
