Only a day ago, the makers of the upcoming Tamil film Thug Life, officially announced that Silambarasan will be part of the Kamal Haasan-starrer film. Reports say that he will be playing the role that was initially offered to Dulquer Salmaan. Now that leaves us with the question of who will be cast for the role of Jayam Ravi? It is to be noted that unofficially, it has been confirmed that both Jayam Ravi and Dulquer Salmaan opted out of Thug Life due to shooting schedule conflicts.

Ashok Selvan in Thug Life?

Actor Ashok Selvan, who was last seen in Pon Ondru Kanden, is expected to take up the role of Jayam Ravi’s character. However, an official announcement on the same is yet to be made by the makers. With the makers only now announcing officially Silambarasan’s casting, it is expected that the team is waiting for some time to make the announcement regarding Ashok Selvan. If his casting is indeed true, it will be interesting to see how his role pans out in Thug Life, given it is his first collaboration with Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan.

Thug Life is directed by ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam and backed by Madras Talkies and Raaj Kamal Films International. With music scored by AR Rahman, Thug Life also stars Trisha, Silambarasan, Joju George, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Gautham Karthik, Nasser, Abhirami, Vayapuri and others.

Ashok Selvan’s body of work

The young actor, who is one among the promising lot of next-generation artists in Tamil cinema, was last seen in the romantic comedy film Pon Ondru Kanden, directed by filmmaker V Priya. Ashok Selvan was also seen in this year’s Blue Star, which became a commercial success and was also critically acclaimed.

He is currently working on Prime Video’s upcoming crime thriller web series Gangs Kuruthi Punal, which also stars actors Sathyaraj, Nasser, Nimisha Sajayan, Ritika Singh and Easwari Rao in prominent roles. A release date is yet to be announced.
