Sushant Singh Rajput and Sanjana Sanghi's film Dil Bechara was released digitally about four years ago. The film, directed by Mukesh Chhabra, was released after Sushant died. The actor passed away at the age of 34 in June 2020. His sudden demise shocked the entire nation. SSR's last film Dil Bechara dropped on Disney+ Hotstar after his death. A few months ago, Mukesh had hinted at the sequel to the 2020 film. However, he has now decided not to make Dil Bechara 2.

Mukesh Chhabra on Dil Bechara 2

In an interview with News18, Mukesh Chhabra admitted he had been planning to make a sequel to Dil Bechara. That's the reason he tweeted about the same on X. The filmmaker revealed the reason Dil Bechara is a special film for him.

"Dil Bechara is a very special film for me because of so many emotions attached to it and, of course, Sushant. So, I realised that I shouldn’t touch that film," he said. Chhabra added that he was making a film which he wanted to name Dil Bechara 2. However, the director believes that the title will always belong to Sushant.

Mukesh also refused to cash in on that film as he wanted to keep the beauty of Dil Bechara intact. The filmmaker also revealed that there was a conversation about another collaboration when he and Sushant were working on Dil Bechara. "I’m someone who likes working with the same people I’ve worked in the past with as is the case with Ayan (Mukerji) and Ranbir (Kapoor)," said Mukesh.

Dil Bechara's storyline and cast

Meanwhile, Dil Bechara was based on John Green's 2012 novel The Fault In Our Stars. In the film, Sushant and Sanjana played the role of cancer patients. SSR was seen as Immanuel Rajkumar Jr, while Sanjana essayed the character of Kizie Basu. Apart from them, Dil Bechara featured Sahil Vaid, Saswata Chatterjee and Swastika Mukherjee.

As far as Sushant's career trajectory is concerned, he rose to fame in Bollywood with Kai Po Che!. He later featured in several Hindi movies, including MS Dhoni: The Untold Story.
