Prime Video has released a teaser for The Girlfriend, a suspenseful six-episode family drama based on a best-selling novel. The show is set to launch on September 10, 2025. It explores themes of trust, obsession, and how boundaries between protection and control can blur. Robin Wright and Olivia Cooke star as the main characters, promising an intense and emotional story.

The story centers on Laura, played by Robin Wright. She is a successful woman and a loving mother whose life starts to fall apart. This happens when her grown-up son, Daniel, introduces her to his secretive new girlfriend, Cherry, portrayed by Olivia Cooke. Cherry seems charming at first, but Laura quickly becomes suspicious of her intentions. As tension grows between them, the series asks: Is Cherry really dangerous, or is Laura’s fear making her see things that aren’t there?

The cast also features Waleed Zuaiter, Tanya Moodie, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Karen Henthorn, Anna Chancellor, Leo Suter, and Francesca Corney. They add depth to the story’s web of relationships. Naomi Sheldon and Gabbie Asher created and wrote the series, with help from a diverse team of writers. Directors Andrea Harkin and Robin Wright herself oversee the project, bringing a deeper look into the story’s psychological side.
