Following the success of Trisha Krishnan's Brinda, Sony Liv is now producing another contentious series called Mayasabha, which is directed by renowned director Deva Katta. The show will be available for streaming on August 7, 2025. The producers surprised viewers by revealing the teaser and that Mayasabha is modeled after two of Andhra Pradesh's most influential political figures, Nara Chandrababu Naidu and YS Rajasekhar Reddy.

Only the Mayasabha of Liv becomes embroiled in controversy

The teaser indicates that the program is about the time when Chandrababu Naidu and YS Rajasekhar Reddy were close friends and belonged to the same party, as well as how they eventually became staunch foes and rose to become Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh in their own right.

The way the two leaders are presented in the trailer has been the subject of debate ever since it was released. Some members of the audience began publishing messages asserting that Chandrababu and YS Rajasekhar Reddy were never close.

In response to all of this reaction, Deva Katta tweeted that the series is based on real events and that he will present the proceedings without taking a position. Nonetheless, the conflicts persist. There have been a few ideas floating around about a specific scene in the trailer.

The teaser shows Rajasekhar Reddy chatting with Chandrababu Naidu before the historic Viceroy Hotel movement, where Chandrababu rebelled against his father-in-law, the late NT Rama Rao, if you look closely. When the entire Nandamuri clan rebelled against NTR and his wife, it was one of the most historic moments in Telugu politics.

As a result, one section has been publishing videos and comments alleging that YS Rajasekhar Reddy was not in a strong enough position at the time to call Chandra Babu about the well-known "Vennupotu issue." Many also believe that the friendship between the two leaders is highlighted only to produce a wow effect and that numerous other elements have been dramatized for cinematic impact.

Sony Liv's Mayasabha has brought Deva Katta back to the forefront

This has sparked a new debate, with many predicting that the series will include several factual mistakes. Knowing that they are developing a series that will be neutral and that any disputes are beneficial publicity for the endeavor, the producers have remained silent.

We have to observe how Deva Katta displays his intense emotions, which is what he is known for, in this contentious relationship between two political leaders who, via Mayasabha, transformed the course of Andhra politics. Keep checking back for additional information.
