Vidyut Jammwal Reportedly Cast as Dhalsim in Hollywood’s Street Fighter Live-Action Film

It appears that Vidyut Jammwal, the martial artist and actor, is showcasing his action and acting skills abroad. The actor has joined the cast of the forthcoming live-action film Street Fighter, according to a recent report.

Dhalsim will be played by Vidyut Jammwal

The 44-year-old actor will portray Dhalsim in the film, according to Deadline, an entertainment news website. Street Fighter is directed by Kitao Sakurai, who is also known for Bad Trip and Aardvark, and is based on the video games produced by Capcom.

Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken, Callina Liang as Chun-Li, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, Jason Momoa as Blanka, Orville Peck as Vega, Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki, and Roman Reigns as Akuma are all in the cast of Street Fighter. Rumors of WWE celebrity Cody Rhodes joining the cast to portray Guile are unconfirmed.

The video game franchise, which was founded in 1987, featured intense one-on-one confrontations between teams of martial artists at the direction of M. Bison as part of a worldwide fighting competition. Since its introduction, over 55 million units have been sold globally.

In 1994, a film version was released with Jean-Claude Van Damme as Guile and Raúl Juliá, who played M. Bison, the villain, in his last film role. Although the movie received harsh reviews, it was moderately successful at the box office, earning $99 million.

Vidyut Jamwal made his debut in Hindi film, where he portrayed a baddie in John Abraham's Force (2011) before appearing in his own commercially successful Commando film franchise. His most recent appearance was in the sports action picture Crack: Jeetegaa Toh Jiyegaa, which starred Amy Jackson, Arjun Rampal, and Nora Fatehi in the main roles. The movie, which Aditya Datt directed, came out in theaters on February 23, 2024, but it was not a commercial success.
