The third bout between Irish boxer Katie Taylor and Puerto Rico's Amanda Serrano will be live streamed by Netflix from Madison Square Garden the following month. The streaming behemoth unveiled a nearly two-minute teaser for the historic bout, which was sponsored by Most Valuable Promotions, on Wednesday.
Taylor is defending her undisputed super lightweight title during the first all-female boxing card at the legendary site. She will be fighting Amanda Serrano for the third time.
Taylor has a 24-1 boxing record and has only lost once in her 25 contests. In the interim, Serrano (47-3-1) has won 47 matches and is the reigning unified featherweight world champion.
According to the event's description, the main card will consist of exclusive women's undisputed and unified women's championship bouts, while 21 world title belts will be at stake in five fights. This comprises two unified championship contests and three undisputed title fights.
In April 2022, Taylor and Serrano faced off for the first time at Madison Square Garden. This was the venue's first time headlining with two female boxers.
By a split decision, the 38-year-old Irish boxer prevailed in the hard-fought bout and maintained her uncontested lightweight championships. The matchup is frequently referred to as one of the finest in women's boxing. The 'Fight of the Year,' according to Sports Illustrated at the time.
Taylor and Serrano met again in November of last year amidst demands for a rematch. During the Jake Paul v. Mike Tyson undercard, Taylor defeated the rematch unanimously.
Due to an injury, Serrano had withdrawn from the planned bout at Dublin's 3 Arena in 2023.
The November 2024 fight in women's boxing broke another record with an estimated 74 million viewers worldwide.
Taylor, an Olympic gold medalist in 2012, has previously stated her desire to face Serrano again. The Irish News quoted Taylor as saying, "I'm 2-0 against Amanda, but it's obviously a very special rivalry that delivers every time we step in the ring, so I think it's only right that we have the trilogy."
The fight will be broadcast live on Netflix from Madison Square Garden on July 11 at 8 PM ET and 5 PM PT.
