Prithviraj Sukumaran plays the lead role in Kaaliyan, a Malayalam movie that has been delayed for a long time. Mahesh Gurukkal directs Kaaliyan, which is billed as a period drama film. The film generated enthusiasm among fans when a few online trackers predicted that the crew will begin filming this year and that Prithviraj Sukumaran will join the shoot the following year. Online trackers predicted that the highly anticipated movie Kaaliyan, starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, will begin production by the end of 2025 or 2026, which sparked a lot of talk. Additionally, there's a team photo with Prithviraj that's going viral online. However, producer Rajeev Govindan told OTTplay in no uncertain terms that the team has only restarted the pre-production process.

"There are conversations happening right now. The pre-production process has been restarted. Rajeev Govindan stated, "We will make an official announcement when there is an update to the shooting schedule.

Rajeev, who has previously created films like Prithviraj Sukumaran's Anarkali and Kunchacko Boban-starrer Ordinary, told the media that the online reports do not have a specific start date when questioned about their truth. However, Rajeev told OTTplay that the crew anticipates finishing the filming of Kaaliyan the following year.

The plot of the forthcoming Malayalam film, advertised as a historical drama, is based on the life of Kunchirakkotu Kali, a 17th-century warrior from Kerala. Kunchirakkotu Kali, a trusted assistant to the well-known Iravikkutty Pillai, is still little known to the general population. With Prithviraj playing the title character, the movie seeks to depict his life. According to prior sources, Sathyaraj will be seen as Iravikkutty Pillai.

However, Rajeev declined to provide any news on the cast, stating that everything is currently up for debate

Meanwhile, Prithviraj's most recent appearance was in the Mohanlal-starring L2 Empuraan. Prithviraj had also helmed the Lucifer sequel. He is also a member of SS Rajamouli's SSMB29, which features Mahesh Babu.
