Filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj is now anticipating the release of his upcoming picture with Rajinikanth after having huge success with his LCU universe. The Maanagaram director, who began with a modest cast of stars, is now directing the who's who of the business, with Lokesh next collaborating with none other than Hindi actor Aamir Khan. Aamir Khan just announced that Sitaare Zameen Par will begin production in the second half of 2026, while he is looking forward to its release.

It will be produced on a hefty budget and is advertised as a superhero movie. Even though the project is little known, we do know that the movie was previously presented to a South celebrity and given the moniker Lokesh's dream project.

Irumbu Kai Mayavi: From Steel Claw to Suriya's Film, and Now Aamir Khan's and Lokesh Kanagaraj's Superhero Epic

Although Lokesh Kanagaraj is well-known for his LCU brand of movies, he has always maintained that his ideal project is something different. It is a version of the British comic book Steel Claw called Irumbu Kai Mayavi. And this is exactly the heart of his upcoming movie. On several occasions, Lokesh Kanagaraj had discussed the project, including his childhood reading of Irumbu Kai Mayavi and his desire to write something with substance.

Suriya was the first person to whom the ambitious idea was presented, and he later portrayed the callous Rolex in LCU. Although supporters have been looking forward to the pair working together on Irumbu Kai Mayavi, Suriya previously suggested that a larger celebrity may take on the role. Additionally, it was originally introduced to the actor Suriya, and it is currently being produced with the Hindi actor Aamir Khan, who has stated that his upcoming film with Lokesh would be a superhero movie.

What does the story of Irumbu Kai Mayavi revolve around?

One of the Steel Claw's reiterations, Irumbu Kai Mayavi, has become well-liked over the years. In a nutshell, it follows the main character as he loses his right hand and replaces it with a prosthetic metal one. However, in a separate incident, he is shocked into invisibility for a while, with the exception of his steel hand. Then, he employs his newfound authority to combat crime. Contrary to his other movies, Irumbu Kai Mayavi will not be about guns and bloodshed, as Lokesh has said. With the PK actor's participation, the superhero project has instantly become pan-Indian, although the cause for Lokesh's decision to choose Aamir over Suriya is yet unknown. Furthermore, in the confrontation scheduled for the next LCU films, we will see Suriya playing the infamous Rolex.

As the superhero movie is scheduled to begin production later in 2026, it is also likely that Aamir Khan will appear in Lokesh's upcoming film, Coolie, which stars Rajinikanth. Coolie, a standalone movie from LCU, will debut on August 14. It also features Nagarjuna, Sathyaraj, Upendra, Shruthi Haasan, Soubin Shahir, and others.
