Tamil actor Santhosh Prathap has officially joined the cast of Anjali's 50th film. The makers of the film took to their social media handles to share the character poster of the actor from the film, introducing Santhosh Prathap as a cop, named V Arun. The actor sports a dashing look in the poster that hints he is playing an intense role in the film. Santhosh Prathap is set to play the male lead in the film. Earlier the actor had also shared a work-out video on his handles, which featured the actor maintaining the right physique to fit into the character.  

Anjali’s 50th film Eegai

Directed by debutant Ashok Velayutham, the upcoming film Eegai is set to be an intense suspense thriller which has Anjali playing the protagonist. Earlier a poster was revealed, featuring Anjali covered with a red scarf and standing in the middle of black umbrellas in the rain. Going by the poster, the film appears to be a thrilling mystery with Anjali set to play an intense role who is here to fight for justice.  

According to director Ashok Velayutham, Anjali’s character is a Mumbai-based Tamil student, who comes to Chennai to study law. During her train journey, she passes through Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh. However, she witnesses a murder in Andhra Pradesh, which has been recorded as a missing case in Chennai. How she, along with a cop, investigates the case forms the rest of the story. 

The director also shared that Anjali’s character hails from a slum where the main occupation is to make first-copy shoes of popular brands. “As a daughter of one such cobbler, Anjali's character decides to become a lawyer”, the director said. The director also added that the director penned the script keeping Anjali as his protagonist. “Anjali is not only a commercially viable actor but also has the face value to convey strong messages”, the director said.  

On the technical front, Eegai also has cinematography by Sridhar G, music composed by Dharan Kumar and editing by Srikanth. 

Anjali's film with Nivin Pauly

Meanwhile, Anjali is awaiting the release of her upcoming film Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai which has Nivin Pauly and Soori playing the lead roles. The film is directed by Ram and was screened earlier at the International Film Festival Rotterdam. The theatrical release date of the film is yet to be announced.
