₹99 Ticket Strategy and Audience Buzz Fuel Raju Weds Rambai’s Success

The small-budget Telugu rom-com Raju Weds Rambai has turned into the biggest surprise of 2025 in the two Telugu states. In its opening weekend, the film raked in a staggering ₹7.28 crore share across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, leaving trade analysts stunned and producers beaming.

How a ₹99 Ticket Price Changed Everything

Producers Bunny Vas and Vamsi Nandipati took a bold gamble – they capped most ticket prices at just ₹99 (and ₹150 in a few multiplexes) across hundreds of single screens and smaller multiplex chains. The result? Packed houses from the very first show on Friday.

“This is a film made for the common man. We wanted every auto driver, student, and daily-wage worker to watch it without thinking twice about the price,” Bunny Vas said in a recent interview. The strategy paid off instantly. Footfalls skyrocketed, with many theaters reporting house-full boards even for morning shows in Tier-2 and Tier-3 towns like Nizamabad, Khammam, Ongole, and Tirupati.

iBomma Shutdown: The Unexpected Blessing

Another major factor behind the film’s clean run has been the temporary shutdown of notorious piracy website iBomma just days before release. With HD prints nowhere to be found online for the first 72 hours, audiences had no option but to head to theaters.

Trade expert Taran Adarsh noted, “When piracy is controlled even for the crucial opening weekend, small and mid-budget films can breathe. Raju Weds Rambai is the perfect example.”

Mass Love + Word-of-Mouth = Box Office Fire

The film’s biggest strength, however, is its content. Directed by debutant Harsha Priya, Raju Weds Rambai is a laugh riot laced with relatable village humor, foot-tapping songs, and a heartwarming love story. The chemistry between leads Vaishnav Tej and Sreeleela has struck a chord with family audiences and front-benchers alike.

Social media is flooded with videos of audiences dancing to “Naa Pere Rambai” inside theaters and whistling during the interval block. The positive buzz has ensured repeat viewings, especially in B and C centers where ticket rates are already low.

On Track for a Historic ₹50 Crore Share?

With zero big-ticket releases in the next ten days and Sankranti holidays just around the corner, the makers are confident of a long, profitable run. Early estimates suggest the film needs only ₹18–20 crore to break even (including P&A). Anything beyond that is pure profit.

“If the momentum continues, ₹50 crore share in full run is very much possible. This could well become the highest-grossing small-budget Telugu film ever,” producer Vamsi Nandipati told reporters.

From a daring pricing experiment to accidental anti-piracy help and genuine audience love – Raju Weds Rambai proves once again that content, when backed by smart marketing and accessibility, can conquer the box office. For now, Raju and Rambai are not just getting married on screen; they’re taking the entire Telugu cinema industry on a dream honeymoon.
