Eating food that is infected with hazardous germs, viruses, parasites, or poisons causes food poisoning. Common early warning signals include stomach cramps, diarrhea, vomiting, and nausea. Dr. Karuna Chaturvedi, the head of clinical nutrition at Max Super Speciality Hospital in Noida, told HT Lifestyle, "Recovering from food poisoning needs a careful, step-by-step approach to help your stomach heal. Maintaining hydration, resting the gut, and gradually reintroducing simple Indian foods are the keys.
Dr. Karuna Chaturvedi provided a recovery plan that can assist in controlling the signs of food poisoning:
1. Begin by hydrating
Vomiting and diarrhea are frequent symptoms of food poisoning, which can result in dehydration. Drink fluids first. Start with coconut water, rice kanji (rice water), light nimbu paani (with minimal salt or sugar), boiling water, or ORS (oral rehydration solution). Stay away from coffee, tea, bottled juice, and aerated beverages. To avoid nausea, drink little amounts every now and then.
2. Choose foods that are light and not very flavorful
Start with bland, binding foods that are kind to the stomach, such curd rice, moong dal khichdi, boiled potatoes, steamed rice with salt, and roti without ghee or oil, once you are able to retain fluids. Keep the servings small and spaced out throughout the day..

3. Integrate calming enhancements
Include blandly spiced, home-cooked foods like plain upma or suji porridge, sautéed veggies like lauki, pumpkin, or carrots with less oil and buttermilk (chaas) after 24–48 hours of stability. Use little oil and steer clear of powerful tadka or chilies.
4. Refrain from these till you have completely healed
Eating fried foods, hot curries, street foods, milk, paneer, and high-fiber vegetables might make your body feel worse and take longer to heal.
5. Indicators that you're prepared for regular food:
• At least 24–48 hours without vomiting or diarrhea
• Smaller meals make you feel satiated and at ease.
• The start of a recovery in energy levels
Start with simple, home-cooked meals and gradually reintroduce your regular diet.
