The remaining nine events are Samyoga, Yoga Mahakumbh, Yoga Unplugged, Harit Yoga, Yoga Connect, Yoga Prabhava, Yoga Samavesh, Yoga Park, and Yoga Bandhan.
History and Significance of International Yoga Day 2025: The Reason for Its Celebration on June 21
Following a campaign by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed June 21 as International Yoga Day. During its 69th session, the General Assembly adopted a resolution on December 11, 2014.
During his address at the session, Prime Minister Modi stated, "Yoga is an invaluable gift from our ancient tradition. Yoga embodies unity of mind and body, thought and action ... a holistic approach [that] is valuable to our health and our well-being.” "Yoga is not only about physical exercise; it's a method to find a sense of unity with yourself, the world, and nature."
The first International Yoga Day set two Guinness World Records at a magnificent ceremony in New Delhi on June 21, 2015: the largest yoga session with 35,985 participants and the most nationalities (84) in a single session.
